The Bighorn Basin of north-central Wyoming is approximately 100 miles wide and is surrounded by the Bighorn Mountains to the east, the Pryor Mountains to the north, and the Absaroka Range to the west and encompasses 17 different communities of varying sizes.

The CC’s Way

CC’s Pizza is a locally owned and operated family business that offers a little something for everyone from pizza to sweets to gluten free options. Owner Carla Scharen was kind enough to sit down with us during a recent visit to give us the run down on CC’s history and her family’s passion for serving their local community with some of the best pizza around!

Born and raised in Greybull, WY, Carla is a 5th generation Wyomingite. Prior to her purchase of the business in 2007, CC’s Pizza was owned and operated by her parents. Despite her parents having owned CC’s Pizza for several years, Carla explained her familiarity with the business started nearly 35 years ago when she briefly worked at the then Pizza on the Run location, a Bighorn Basin pizza franchise still in operation in Cody, Lovell and Powell, WY.

Budding Local Business

Having owned and operated CC’s Pizza for nearly a decade and a half, much of the business’ success can be attributed to Carla’s efforts to serve quality food and spirits and to create a fun, welcoming environment for her guests and staff. CC’s Pizza makes all their dough and sauces from scratch daily utilizing the business’ original recipes that have been passed down through generations and ownerships. Carla stated, “Many of our guests come from all around [the Bighorn Basin] because we have stayed true to those original recipes. We use the same cheeses, sausage, pepperoni, and so on.” As they say, don’t fix it if its not broken, and our taste buds couldn’t agree more.

More Than A Pizzeria

While best known for their handcrafted, baked pizzas – my personal favorite - CC’s Pizza also serves up additional menu items to include hot oven baked sandwiches, calzones, wings, salads, coffee, baked goods, and Wilcoxson’s ice cream! What makes Wilcoxson’s so special you may ask? Located in Livingston, Montana, Wilcoxson’s produces ice cream for local eateries and grocery stores throughout Montana and into parts of northwest Wyoming, including Yellowstone National Park, made with only the best locally sourced ingredients.

Beer Me

As a local resident and frequent diner, one of my favorite features of CC’s is their selection of Wyoming brewed craft beers on tap! Carla works with her local beer rep to ensure there is something on tap for everyone, and they switch up their selection often to keep you on your toes! However, you can often find local brews from Black Tooth Brewing Company of Sheridan, WY and Ten Sleep Brewing Co., of Ten Sleep, WY on tap. Carla and her crew told us their most popular beer is Ten Sleep’s Speed Goat - a golden ale produced with local Bryant Honey from Worland, WY which provides a crisp dryness with a slight honey finish. And we love the story behind the name – a smooth and easy drinker, the beer will go fast just like its namesake.

Not only does CC’s Pizza offer year-round dine in and take out, but Carla and her crew stay busy with local deliveries and catering! During the summer months, CC’s Pizza also offers patio dining – which is where you’ll find me draft beer and slice of pizza in hand!

Your Family at CC’s

One of the things that makes CC’s Pizza so special to me and other locals in our community is the welcoming environment and atmosphere Carla and her team have created. When I first moved to Greybull, WY a few years back, it became a Thursday night tradition to go say hi to the CC’s gals and guys! Everyone, especially longtime employee Marva and Carla’s daughter Ruth, always happily greets you by name and makes you feel right at home. Both the year-round and seasonal staff will make your experience at CC’s Pizza that much more perfect!
