We are excited to be in the Bighorn Basin this month because that means we had the opportunity to visit with Brian and Jen Walker. These are two amazing people who are big fans of craft beer. We have spent some time with them drinking beer, but this is our first look inside what will be their new brewery located in Cody, Wyoming, Cody Craft Brewing.

The Brewery

Brian and Jen are still building the facility, but we were able to dive into their plans during our visit with them. The space will feature two patios with garage door lifts for open air access, an event space that is free to reserve, and a large bar that features a take out station to fill growlers and crowlers. The large bar will have 12 of their beers on a tap that is built directly into the cooler - we are sure it will be the perfect pint.

The Beer

Brian and Jen have hired Nick Lawson as their head brewer. A couple of months ago he brought some crowlers of the beer they will be serving and we were able to sample it. The beer was delicious and we are waiting, somewhat impatiently, for them to open so we can enjoy more.

The beer styles they will have on tap are,

  • Pilsner

  • Kölsch

  • Stout

  • IPA’s

  • Porter

The Food

Cody Craft Brewing wants to keep the focus on the beer and have chosen not to have a kitchen, but they do have a plan for food. Along with snacks at the bar they will be hosting local food trucks in the parking lot! Some of the trucks they have spoken with and plan to have on schedule are,

  • 307 Pizza

  • Fresh Prince of Steaks

  • Laughing Pig

  • The Olive Branch

  • And more to come!

Brian and Jen said guests are always welcome to bring in their own food, but a food truck schedule will be available on the website along with the current tap schedule, be sure to keep an eye out for the first schedules to post.

Things to look forward to

There is a lot to look forward to: A brewery tour is at the top of our list - be sure to stop by to see the facility after they open and learn about their local beers. Brian and Jen are sourcing as much locally within the Bighorn Basin and then moving to source throughout Wyoming. This means we will be able to enjoy a truly local beer. They will also be offering a rewards programs for frequent guests and hosting tastings, food pairings and special release events. They also mentioned weekly trivia nights!

What are they most looking forward to?

“What we’re most excited about is to share our love of craft beer with the residents and visitors of Cody. There’s something unique about enjoying a pint at a brewery, seeing how it’s made, talking to the brewer about their art...it really brings a sense of community to the entire experience. It’s something we’ve always loved and want to share with others.”
