Ten Sleep Brewing Co. - Good Beer For Good People

Written By: Sarah Reish

Fresh crisp snow had just fallen as Katelyn and I made our way toward Ten Sleep and the Ten Sleep Brewing Company. The early morning sun was blinding on our drive and a couple of hours after hitting the road, we pulled into the snow covered property of Ten Sleep Brewing Co.  The campgrounds were to the left and straight ahead was the barn where some of our favorite beer is brewed.

This year we are thankful for Juli from Libations and her continued support for us and our beer and spirits content for 2022.

History Of The Ten Sleep Brewing Company

There is a lot of history, but if I had to narrow it down to the most iconic part of the history it would be the bar and the barn; but, there is more to add that I cannot leave out. The bar, now located in the barn, was built in the 1970’s by Cole Smith and it was housed in their home in Seattle. The bar is made of cherry wood and the leftover wood was used to make rifle stocks. After selling their home in Washington they moved back to Ten Sleep and the new homeowners took ownership of the bar. After quite some time the homeowners listed the home for sale and the Smiths were able to retrieve their one of a kind bar and move it into the brewery. When the family first started developing plans for the brewery they connected with Jeremy Tofte, of Thai Me Up Brewpub and Melvin Brewing. Jeremy helped consult with the Smith family as they began their journey of building the brewery. When meeting with Amy for our tour, we learned that it was more than a family brewery, it was a community of people coming together to help bring this vision to life and what better place to house the brewery than in the family barn, which was also built by the Smiths.

Fun With The Logo

The branding says it all with the youngest son Louie riding a keg in front of the barn set with the backdrop of the red rocks, named Signal Butte. The branding speaks to the experience you will have in the tasting room. The brand experience is about family and community, much like the many craft breweries we have visited across Wyoming.

The Experience

Whether you are looking for a tour or wanting to set up camp and enjoy beer and live music, Ten Sleep Brewing Co. is the summer experience we’ve all been looking for. Not far from the brewery is Ten Sleep Canyon a rock climbing area for outdoor enthusiasts. Wake up, grab some coffee, check out the rock climbing and come back to enjoy an evening of fun. We rank this one of the best summer time breweries in Wyoming! You can book your camping spot on the Hip Camp website.

The Beer

Ten Sleep Brewing offers a wide selection of beer to choose from, the popular vote being the Speed Goat. Although the Speed Goat is the most requested, the IPA is delicious, as is the Pale Rider a Pale Ale and Katelyn enjoyed the Total Blackout Stout. We recommend trying a flight or a tasting. Don’t stick to any one beer. There is always something creative happening in the brewery and we pretty much love it all.

New And Exciting Things

Ten Sleep Brewing Company has some new and exciting stuff happening in the world of beer. Located in Worland is the new facility that will be brewing for distribution. The distribution will start off with producing kegs and once their tap demand is met they will address canning and offering their beer in stores. We are thrilled that we may soon be able to find them on tap in various bars across the state.
