Nothing beats a great steak or a good burger. Morgan and Melanie, owners of Wyoming 310 and sponsors of Live WYld magazine have worked to offer some of the best burgers and steaks in the area. We have enjoyed both and the M Sisters attribute this to working with local farmers and ranchers and offering their patrons the freshest seasonal ingredients that are locally available.

Beef for Dinner

Morgan and Melanie cut and cook to order each steak. It is as fresh as it gets when dining at Wyoming 310. The burgers are hands down delicious. No matter what you order you know it is made with fresh and quality ingredients When we spoke with Morgan about showcasing their local fresh ingredients and highlighting the farmers and ranchers they work with she was 100% on board with the idea. So, let’s meet one of their local providers.

Evans Farm & Ranch

Todd & Dana Evans own Evans Farm & Ranch and are the nicest people. They invited us to visit their farm and ranch so we could meet them and the animals. It is located 6 to 7 miles from Morgan and Melanie’s restaurant with the Big Horn Mountain range as the backdrop. To say the M Sister’s buy locally is an understatement because they work with their neighbors.

The Cattle

Todd shared with us that they have both Hereford and Angus cattle. We drove for one and a half miles on a road that traveled along part of the pastures and were able see the herd. Todd and his wife pointed out their “pets” the longhorn and a highland cattle. The main herd of cows and calves are situated along a pasture that has a small dirt road. We followed Todd and Dana through the pastures to get up close to the cattle. It was beautiful and so much fun to be so close as we learned more about the ranch.

The Calves

Todd shared their cows had roughly 150 new calves this year. The calves are absolutely adorable and followed their mama’s over to “meet” us. The truth is they thought it was feeding time. The herd is kept in a beautiful green pasture, as mentioned the Bighorn National Forest and Mountain Range is seen on the horizon. The Evans land is absolutely stunning. We learned they raise their calves until they are one year old and weigh approximately 1,000 lbs. They are grass and feed fed.

The Beef

The Evans use Wyoming Legacy Meats for processing and packaging the Angus natural beef. It is the only USDA facility in Wyoming. Evans Farm & Ranch processes 3 beef a month. They sell commercially, to Wyoming 310 and others, but they also sell 50 lb. boxes to the public. Each box includes ground beef, roasts, and steaks. Their freezers at the farm are state inspected and the boxes run $5.75 per lb. which is $287.50 per 50 lb. box. They sell out quickly, but to order your box a month ahead you can call 307-679-0418.

Bonus News From The Ranch

Dana raises goats and they are the friendliest most adorable goats ever. We had the opportunity to hold the newborns and meet Dozer the Goat Nanny. Dozer protects and watches over the goats to ensure all the babies are safe and with their mamas. Each mama is given her own stall when she gives birth so she and her babies have time to bond before going back to the others. This allows the newborns time to gain strength and learn to identify their moms.
